Verbs that are always followed by the gerund: Other verb must always be followed by the gerund. These verbs include:

Example :
-       Angel was considering buying a jewelry until the price went up
-       Budi admitted stealing the motorcycle

NOTE : These sentences are made negative by adding the negative particle “not” before invinitive or gerund.



The following verbs can be followed by either the infinitive or the gerund with no change is meaning

Example :
-       Betsheba started to sing after watch movie OR Betsheba started singing after watch movie
-       Bryan hates to ride his truck to restaurant OR  Bryan hates riding his truck to restaurant


Verbs + prepositions followed by gerund : If a verb + preposition, adjective + preposition, noun + preposition, or presposition alone is followed directly by a verb, the verb will always be in the gerund form

Example :
-       Fheryogi always think about her future wife
-       You can rely on Peter

The following expressions contain the preposition to. The word to in these expressions must not be confused with the to in the infinitive. These verb + preposition expression must followed by the gerund.
Example :
-       Ravizio is thinking of going to France in June
-       Bagas confessed to stealing the car


Adjectives + prepositions followed by the gerund: The following adjectives + prepositions are also followed by the gerund

Nouns + prepositions followed by the gerund: The following nouns + prepositions are also followed by the gerund

Example :

Any time a prepositins is followed directly by verb, the verb will be in gerund form.


Adjectives followed by the infinitive: The following adjectives are always followed by the infinitive form of the verb and never by the gerund.

difficult
*able means the same as capable in many instances,but th grammar is ver different. While able is followed by infinitive, capable is followed by of + [v-ing]

Example of adjectives followed by infinitives :

-       It is hard to learn about math

Some verbs can be followed by either the infinitive or the gerund, but the meaning changes.
